ATTENUATORS, VARIABLE (COAXIAL),
GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR
This specification is approved for use by all Departments
and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers variable continuously and variable in steps attenuators for use as
attenuating elements in coaxial lines. These attenuators are used for armed services application in the
transmission lines of radar, radio, and associated equipment (see 6.1).

1.3 Part or Identifying Number (PIN). The PIN consists of the letter "M", the basic number of the
specification sheet, and an assigned dash number as shown in the following example (see 3.1):
